Use case
More context before a sensitive account change.
A recent SIM change can matter when a phone number is used to recover an account. A SIM-swap check can help you decide when to ask for additional evidence before allowing a sensitive action.
Check at the moment it matters
Availability: QuietPass is in early access. Formatting, numbering-plan validation, and basic line type are implemented. Network-backed carrier and SIM-swap checks are being integrated; this page describes the intended workflow. Check current coverage before depending on a signal.
A person changing a device or replacing a lost SIM may trigger the same network signal as an unauthorized SIM takeover. The result therefore belongs in a broader account-protection workflow, alongside context such as the requested action, existing session, and available recovery methods.
Use a supported check close to the sensitive action. A result from an earlier signup does not describe every later recovery attempt.
A practical workflow
- Identify the sensitive action
Examples include password recovery, changing the registered phone number, or another high-risk account change. Define the relevant risk policy before integration.
- Resolve coverage and serving network
Where necessary, resolve portability so the number is checked against its current network. A prefix alone may identify the original allocation rather than the serving carrier.
- Request the permitted SIM-swap check
Use the supplier-supported time window and approved use case. Inspect the result’s status and freshness before using its value.
- Choose a proportionate next step
A recent change may prompt an existing trusted device, a different recovery method, or manual review. An unavailable result should follow an explicit fallback path.
Make unknown a first-class outcome
No supported data, no carrier coverage, a timeout, and a completed negative result are different outcomes. Preserve that distinction. Do not interpret unavailable or skipped as “no recent SIM change.”
The signal does not establish that fraud occurred, reveal who controls the phone, or replace a complete identity or account-risk assessment. Your policy should account for legitimate SIM replacements and users who need an alternative recovery route.
Prepare the use case now
Contact hello@quietpass.com for SIM-swap pricing. We are accepting SIM-swap use-case requests while integration is being completed. Describe the account action, markets, expected volume, privacy information, and user flow. We can review fit and supplier requirements before enabling live checks; a request is not a promise of a launch date.
Read the SIM-swap guide, carrier and portability guide, and current coverage. The early-access form lets you request SIM-swap checks explicitly.
