Use case
A better phone-number step at signup.
Check the input first, then request the additional signals your signup policy needs. Keep number validity, line type, and proof of possession as separate decisions.
Choose checks around a decision
Availability: QuietPass is in early access. Formatting, numbering-plan validation, and basic line type are implemented. Network-backed carrier and SIM-swap checks are being integrated; this page describes the intended workflow. Check current coverage before depending on a signal.
A signup form needs more than a yes-or-no “valid” label. An input can match a country’s numbering plan without being assigned. A line can be mobile without its present owner being the person filling out the form.
QuietPass is designed to return the results of selected checks separately, so your application can explain an input error, choose a verification route, or ask for another step without inventing a missing result.
A practical workflow
- Correct the input
Format and validate the number before spending on SMS. Explain an invalid input in a way the applicant can fix.
- Assess relevant line type
Use available type data to apply your product’s documented policy. Treat generic or unknown VoIP/SMS capability as unresolved, not as a definitive negative.
- Verify possession
Send a verification code only through a permitted, cost-controlled route. A successful code verifies access to that destination at that time.
- Combine evidence proportionately
Combine phone signals with your other controls and offer a support or alternative-verification route when a legitimate applicant cannot complete the step.
Avoid false certainty
VoIP is not synonymous with abuse. A recent SIM change can be legitimate, and a number with no recent change can still be misused. Define what each signal changes in your process and how users can recover from a mistaken restriction.
A successful phone OTP is not a complete identity check. QuietPass returns phone and network signals; your business owns the final registration and risk decision.
Implementation and coverage
Read line type intelligence and the developer quickstart. Check country and carrier support through coverage. Request only the optional checks needed for the decision.
Tell us your signup flow, markets, and expected volume in the early-access form. Live network queries require the relevant business and use-case approval.
